Teatime DIY „Bonhomme“

Bei uns wird immer schon viel gebastelt und selber gemacht.
Vielleicht liegt es auch daran, dass meine Mutter in jedes Papier-, Bastel oder Kurzwarengeschäft hineingeht – und immer mit einem Tütchen wieder herauskommt! Wie haben inzwischen selber so etwas wie einen Bastelladen zuhause…

Die Idee zu diesem Teil hatte ich, als wir in einem meiner Lieblingsrestaurants in Hamburg waren, im „Le Marrakech“.

Dort gab es diesen kleinen Griffschutz an den marokanischen Teekannen, damit man sich beim Einschenken nicht die Hand verbrennt. Sie werden auch „Bonhomme“ genannt, das ist französisch und heißt übersetzt „Mann“ oder „Männchen“, bei uns kurz Teatime DIY „Bonhomme“!

Jedenfalls ist das für alle Teetrinker eine gute Idee und ich habe einige von den kleinen „Bonhomme“ letztes Weihnachten verschenkt.

Du brauchst folgendes:

Stoff für die Vorderseite                              mind. 15 x 20cm
Stoff für die Rückseite                                 mind. 15 x 20cm
Vlies aus Baumwolle oder ähnliches          mind. 15 x 20 cm
Stoffband                                                      ca. 3cm breit und 50 cm lang
Pompom
Stecknadeln, Faden und Nähnadel und Schere

1. Schritt
Mache Dir eine Schablone von einem Oval (17 cm lang x 13 cm breit) aus Pappe.
Scheide mit Hilfe der Schablone jeweils ein Oval aus beiden Stoffen und dem Vlies.

2. Schritt
Nun legst Du alle drei Ovale aufeinander (den Vlies in die Mitte)und steckst sie mit Stecknadeln zusammen.
Dann kannst Du sie mit der Nähmaschine oder mit einer Nähnadel zusammennähen.

3. Schritt
Jetzt kommen wir zum schwierigen Teil.

Beginne oben und lege das Band so um den Rand, dass es auf der Vorder- und der Rückseite gleich viel bedeckt. Stecke es mit Nadeln fest, bevor Du es mit der Nähmaschine oder per Nadel festnähst.

4. Schritt
Du klappst den oberen Teil des Ovals ca. 4 cm nach innen und nähst den Pompon in der Mitte mit einer Nadel fest. Danach klappst Du die beiden längeren Seiten des Ovals zusammen und nähst die obere Kante zu.
Den Bogen schließt Du auch noch ca. 2 cm.

Jetzt ist Dein „Bonhomme“ fertig und Du bekommst garantiert keine Verbrennungen mehr beim Servieren von heißem Tee!

Within our family we always liked doing handicrafts. Probably because we sort of have a huge collection of haberdasheries at home due to our mum. She loves these kind of shops and can`t resist to buy…

However, I had the idea for this project when we spent an evening in one of our favourite restaurants in Hamburg „Le Marrakech“.
They had these little heat protections on their moroccan teapots, to prevent from burning your fingers while pouring the hot tea. They are also called „Bonhomme“, this is french and means „man“ or „little man“.

Anyway, it is a good thing to have for everybody into tea drinking and I made some of these last christmas for presents.

You need:
Fabric for the front and the back                 at least 15 x 20 cm
Fleece or lining material                                at least 15 x 20 cm
Ribbon                                                            ca. 3 cm x 50 cm length
Pompon
Pins, thread and needle, scissors

1st Step
Prepare a pattern of an oval (17 cm length and 13 cm width).
Cut out one oval of each fabric and the lining material or fleece.

2 nd Step
Now you put the three ovals to one (with the lining material in the middle) and use pins to fix it.
Then you can sew it either with a sewing machine or by hand.

3 rd Step
This is the most diffcult part.
Start in the upper part and try to fix the ribbon along the edge evenly, so half oft he width on each side. Fix it with pins before you start to sew it.

4 th Step
Fold the upper part oft he oval inwards (ca. 4 cm ) and fix the pompon with a thread. Then you fold the oval lenghtwise and finish to close the upper end.
You have to close the upper bow, too, for about 2 cm.

Finally your „bonhomme“ is ready  and you don`t risk to burn your fingers by serving hot tea.
